Today was a long day and very cold. Went over pre-trip and in cab today. I'm exhausted not much to say except we lost 2 more today. Brian who is in charge of the yard seems to be very well put together. Tomorrow is going to be coupling / decoupling and studying for permit.

laugh when we got to Dallas and saw the Stevens pretrip. We all felt overeducated. -
I passed all 3 written tests in under an hour today! I'm very happy! Yesterday I volunteered to do coupling / decoupling first and it went well! There is definitely going to be quite a few washouts coming up and its kinda depressing lots of these guys are really nice and trying real hard to pass. The second half today I believe is going to be straight line backing while others will be reviewing. Heavy snow is expected coming up and the school says they don't stop. I hope that doesn't mean we will be shoveling lol.

Today was a lot of straight line backing and by a lot I mean the entire day. They had 4 different trucks available and I backed all of them 9+ times each with two trucks being way more. I feel pretty confident in it but its nothing but dirt around you so no pressure yet. We lost one more guy and two are still missing permits at this point. Tomorrow is logs / straight line but depending on how bad this storm is it could just be logs. I'm very exhausted haven't been this active in awhile but i feel great

What's causing the loss of students?
-
It seems to be personal issues really. Most of them are either not fit mentally or just have too many other distractions / responsibilities that they tried to run away from but couldn't. The school it self seems to be really good. Living conditions are obviously not perfect however its only 3 weeks. I also expect more attrition from Stevens themselves. There are people here that will pass the cdl here but not cut the mustard so to speak. So Stevens now has 10 people in this class not counting the 3 that will be pushed back to next week.

Saturday and Sunday (today) were laid back days. Saturday was log books and straight line and today is just pure boredom haha. Its our day off today and we all feel lost since there is not much to do in this town while in school. I'm battling quite a bit of stomach discomfort these past two days but it seems to finally be easing up now. I can't week to start week 2! Tomorrow I believe is off set backing and possibly going forwards with gear changes we will see!
Edit : the snow storm was a bust with just a few inches. This week its going to be very cold everyday except Tuesday. If you are in the truck though its not bad.
