Thanks Boomer, This is the first time I've had a chance to get to sit in front of a computer since I jumped in the truck with my trainer. I'm starting my 5th week and so far I'm enjoying my experence. I did pass my cdl test. It feels like a weight has been lifted off my back. Now I can consontrate more on trip planing. A good GPS is a must as far as I'm concerend. Still doesnt take 1st place next to a map but it is a real nice tool. Things are going good for me. I've talked to some of the other guys in our class and it sounds like their doing well also. More later.

Congratulations OS......I just wrapped up my first week. Guys, let me tell you, school is a breeze compared to being on the road. It will test your patience and your better nature...... and that's just dealing with your trainer...:biggrin_25523:
We ran a little over 4100 miles in the first 8 days. I'm in a motel room (that Millis is paying for) right now because my trainer is on home leave. I've got a pretty good trainer, but like anything and anyone that you're going to spend 23 hours a day with, it takes some time and some adjustment.
All is well..... I happy to be in a place that isn't moving.....

OS, where did you take your driving test? And is there any insight to the test that you could share?

Congrats on your first week out. Sounds like you've been running hard. I took my test by a third party school. Albany Tech in Albany GA. I would highly recomend that place. They wont give you anything but I found the people very easy to talk to and didnt feel the high stress there. The cones were a little bigger then what some say are at other places. They have their oun trucking school there and are set up real nice. The guys name is Kenny Rogers. I'll have to find his # and will post it later today. I too am at a motel for a couple days since my trainer took time off for home time.

Dang it.......I live in Albany, but no one was sure how Albany Tech was going to work out, so I set my appointment in Monroe. I wonder if they let you switch locations?? And actually, I think I know of Kenny Rogers. Oh well, hopefully by the end of the month I will have driven enough so that it really won't be much of an issue where I take the test.

I lived in Albany, (Albinny) Ga for my sophomore and junior years of highschool. My dad took a church down there for a couple years then they moved on to Florida and I headed off to college in Tennessee.

Thats the best way to prepair for the test is to know it no matter where you take the test. I first sighned up to take it at the Albany state DOT center when Kenny called me back so I went ahead and sighned up with him then canceled my test date with the state. Here is the number I said I would post for the tech school. 229-430-1732. Again, I found it to be a very positive experence for me and would recomend it but at the same time you should know your pretrip, be able to back using a couple of pull ups and pay attention while taking the driver part of the test. They gave me 3 backing manuvers. Straight line back, offset and driver side parell. No problem with the slb but the offset was as ugly as it could get and still pass. I only had to pull up one time on the dr sd parl. I worked on the pretrip and knew that like the back of my hand so no worrys there. The driving wasnt any problem either. Some days my backing is a hit or miss. It just happens I was having a little problem with the offset. Its funny too because I was hopping for the offset over the driver side parl. Go figure. :) Almost forgot, one thing I did like was that they had a much cleaner cone inbetween really dirty ones to aim for while doing the dsp. All places may have the same thing not real sure but Albany Tech does. That helped me. If I can help with anything else let me know and I'll do my best to anser any questions. At least untill Monday morning when I leave here.

That's why I wanted to take it in Albany..... I know the terrain.... oh well, I'll give Kenny a shout out and see what can be done. Plus, it would be really swell if I could take my test and a couple of days off at the same time. we'll see..... thanks OS

Albany Tech is a third party tester so you don't have to schedule them through the state. Call them directly. I'm sure you could cancel your other appt after you go to them.
