Interesting. I spoke with my recruiter about this very thing. I was interested in starting training directly after school, rather than go home and wait... who knows how long... for a trainer to pass by and pick me up. I was told that school graduates typically go home and wait. (I'd rather not.)

I do plan on driving up though, I will never ride a Greyhound bus as long as I live. I'd almost rather pay for a cab! I'm glad you wrote this though. I will call my recruiter again and discuss it with her. I was going to bring everything I'd need to be away from home for a couple months, including what I'd want on the truck with me.

Yeah, the recruiters here are better than most, but they ARE still recruiters! lol. They will reimburse you for the travel expense at $0.13/mile, but not until the week after your first dispatch, so that's not going to be a major issue...

Getting you, your truck, AND your car will! I did it because I live 30 miles from the Marshfield yard, and park there anyway, but for someone with an alternate parking location, this can become a major starting problem.

What I have to do is clear to me. I'll call her tomorrow and find out exactly what will transpire.

You have to drive up here for class so you have a car to and from RDYC everyday. Most come from other states and have to take their CDL home and transfer it to their state anyhow. Yes pretty much ALL the RDTC grads go home after being up here for 3 weeks. Then a trainer picks them up near the house.

Aren't they using the shuttle van to go between the hotel and training?

When I was in class the shuttle van was for experienced drivers going to orientation.

I start on the 24th for orientation. I was scheduled for the 31st, but got bumped up a week. I can't wait to start working full time again!

I've been riding vintage sleds and working PT since graduation on 12/14.

Death in the family. I will have to reschedule the training. I will be calling the recruiter for the date. I hope it not to far in the future.

They must not have many students for that week. My recruiter asked me about starting on the 24th, but I can't. I get a nice little bonus if I stay at my job until the end of the fiscal year (Jan. 28th). I'll be up on the 30th to start monday.
