Speed plays no part. You can definitley practice downshift from 6th down to 2nd and have shifting down, as long as you know your road speed to know what gear you should be in. We can't go over 20 mph on the range but I've never gone much over 10 mph. The track is not very big, and they teach us to not shift on a curve.
The guy that quit was the older one that sat next to me. He was complaining about all the reading and test taking we had to do because he didn't have prescription glasses - it had been 13 years since he last went to the eye doctor so he only had one of those cheap drugstore glasses - and he would get a headache after only 30 minutes of reading. Not to mention trying to read those tiny numbers in the Atlas, he couldn't even see those. But then he said that he had made an appointment with the eye doctor, and on Monday he said that he had went and that his new glasses were on their way. So I'm not sure what his reason was for leaving
The younger guy with the sideburns, that's Mark, he's super nice just quiet. I thought he was going to quit the first day, but he keeps coming back and he's doing very well! Our worst student is Victor, the guy from Cuba that sits in the front of the class. He's just having a little more trouble getting the shifting down. And the backing... But he's a nice guy so I'm rooting for him! I hope we all make it through![]()

Well those #### number in the Atlas are friggin small. We had a few students in my class who had the same issue but they just brought magnifying glass.

Yes they are! And sometimes they are not there, especially when you get close to the big cities. Even with the blowups. Sometimes I have had to guess. I really felt bad for the guy.

Where do you stay in St Pete, if you're out of town taking the course? Any Campgrounds or Motels nearby at are safe and clean and not to expensive?

Today we spent half the morning inside due to lightening and lots and lots of rain ugh!! It finally stopped so we could get our pretrips done, and then after lunch they showed us the 90-degree dock parking. I think that's what you call it lol. They told us that the state doesn't require them to test us on the 45-degree so they skip that and go straight to the 90. Tonight, my right arm is super sore from cranking the steering wheel back and forth!

Radioflyer, hubby and I drive each day from Lehigh Acres, it means a 3:45 am wake up call for me and a 4:15 am wake up call for him, and we don't get home until 5:30, but we are only spending about $20-22 a day in gas for our economical car. The teacher gave me a list for some hotels that are close by the cheapest one was $46 plus tax. Where are you coming from? I'm not sure about camp grounds... I'm sure they are around I just don't know how to find them
sorry

Thanks for the response, From up north, Brooksville area I would hate to do the drive thru Tampa every morning! I know one trailer park that has rv spots located in Pinellas Park. Thanks again and keep posting on your Training.

I was hoping to start PTEC in the fall, but I just received an email from them that there is no funding available for financial aid for the driving program there. Bummer.
