It's done and over with now, I'm just trying to get my life back on track. I'm just hoping to get my record expunged once im off probation. For now truck driving seems like one of the best careers a felon can get.
hal380 Thanks this. -

Robbery is a HUGE, HUGE conviction for the trucking industry. Truck drivers are "trusted" with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of freight, in a hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment. In this "guilty until proven innocent" country (yes, that's what I said), you'll most likely be lucky to have any of these companies even look at you without the conviction being 5, 7, or 10 years old as most of them advertise.
However; there are some 'outlaw' companies out there, and 'foreign owned' companies out there that won't care so long as you can drive a truck and generate revenue. You just gotta find them.
Regardless of circumstance and/or your side of the story, unfortunately all these companies see on your criminal record is "Robbery"...and then they delete your credentials and don't look back.randal02lee, hal380 and Seebs Thank this. -
Personally, I'd back out before you end up in more debt from the school alone.
If you're able to get it expunged later on like you're saying, then maybe try again then.hal380 and randal02lee Thank this. -
I wouldn't get discouraged. You would be suprised at how many in the workforce have felony criminal records. Alot of people who come to your home to do work for you probably have a criminal past. Just go out and fill out you applications. When the question comes up on criminal past, put down, "will discuss at interview". That way you can make a good impression, and tell your side of the story. You'll land on your feet. Good Luck, and thanks for your service.

if I remember right. felonies aren't expungeable. according to my letter when I expunged my dui. which was a misdemeanor.
you can apply for expungement. you won't be granted but at least you'll have a letter saying if it can be done sometime down the road. in utah. the cost was $10. and fingerprints.
if it can be done. your probably looking at 10 years. NOT after probation is done.hal380 Thanks this.
