Not yet but if that gets to me by Friday we're going to get it out of there on Saturday. Otherwise it will have to wait another week.

    SAR Thanks this.

Bought new a/c delco mt39 $325.00 lasted exactley 2 years. have a 2nd one on truck now. the first 1 went out about 2 hours from home, but managed to slightly bang on the starter and it turned over. call the wife to pick 1 up at truck pro, as I had a load on and had to be fixed asap, so 2nd a/c/ delco is on. we will see how long it last.

I have heard an alternative is a mitsubishi starter built better, last longer but a lil more expensive. missed a chance to get 1 for $180.00 off e-bay, could not respond in time. mitsubishi replacement for my detroit starter is part # flo5799

I just bought a genuine Delco 42MT awhile back for 263 at a local dealer.

I know its a reman and i also know your looking for the 39MT, but the it works great with zero issues...so far.

I've got a 42MT on there now with a bad solenoid. I'm going to replace that and keep the old 42 for a spare. I'd just rather put that lighter weight 39 on there now and hopefully it will be a long, long time before that 42 ever goes back in. Everyone here seems to be happy with the 39 for the most part and it gets good reviews everywhere else too. I saw 39's for cheaper on ebay. One for $250. I just don't trust ebay.

Guys I'm having one helluva a time welding a nut on the end of that broken starter bolt. Just not getting a good weld on it to keep breaking the nut off of it when I impact it. It's been 20 years since I did any welding though but it doesn't help it's kind of a confined area under the truck and difficult to see what I'm doing. Honestly I'm about ready to hang the new starter back on there with 2 bolts just like the old one was. 2 bolts held up just fine for the past 5 or 6 years...

Try torching it out. Just be careful you don't get into the block.

Part of my problem was not using a grade 8 nut. I cheaped out with lowest grade. A buddy told me with the different carbon content basically all it will do is burn into the lower grade nut so get some grade 8's, turn the amps up high, and practice getting wire speed right on some bolts. Have somebody on the way with some grade 8's hoping to wrap this up before dark...

Paid a small fortune for this starter bolt removal tool from the CAT house. Part # 6V-4058 It's the cat's ### for getting that hard to reach bolt on top next to the engine block. Made it really easy. It's an impact 12 point short 5/8's socket on an extension with a spring loaded swivel. It's not loose like most swivels are. It will stay in place when you angle it because of the spring tension. It'll come in handy changing starter on any motor not just CAT's.
