And amazingly enough I could see a slight red glow to the bolts after a while. They broke loose easy peezy with a small breaker bar. I was skeptical this would work getting enough heat in there but if you're patient and heat soak it for about 8 or 10 minutes it works. For guys who don't have acetylene torch looking for a cheap alternative.

Did you put never seize on the bolts going back in? Hopefully you don't have to change starter ever again but if you do the bolts should come out easier.
I installed one of those starters on my trucks and it sure does have a different sound to it when it's cranking over.snowman_w900 Thanks this. -
Im glad you got that one out and it didnt gall up the threads in the aluminum flywheel housing! I bet your feeling better about the starter situation now.rollin coal and SAR Thank this. -
If it ever needs replacing again, I'm just going to unbolt it and let it drop on the ground to decompose naturally. Then I'll put a 39 in it.snowman_w900 and SAR Thank this. -
For sure glad it came out. Yeah I put plenty of copper anti-seize on the threads. Should come apart easy the next time. Sounds like a Volvo cranking :-/ guess they put these high torque starters on those from the factory.
