I got pre-hired before I started National training Trucking school program this month.

I turned 21 while in school and was emailed an offer for hire from Roehl. I take my physical tomorrow then the 31st I'll be headed to Ellenwood for Orientation. Pretty happy about going with this company.

What makes you say that? Roehl is much better than all those other bottom feeder companies like CRE, CRST, and Werner.

werner? one of them folded my passenger-side mirror into my truck the other day in gary, at 55 mph, using nothing but the side of his trailer.

took him a lot of my lane to do that.

Thanks for the input guys, I'm happy to be going with them because, like stated above, their a lot better than the bottom feeders.

Plus MY decision is based mostly off of what both Roehl company drivers and O/O's leased on to Roehl have told me about them.

hey good luck...and welcome to the team...you should like it...as long as you keep the left door closed, and avoid running into anything you should be able to do well at Roehl...so far I have no complaints...they get me home when I ask (I make sure to communicate well with my fleet manager on my hometime needs)...and I do okay with the miles..

Thanks Mic. I do look forward to working for them. I know I haven't even started yet, but in a few years depending on the economy I would like to buy my own truck. I know Roehl has an O/O division, but I may decide to go somewhere else if I decide to go Double O. Maybe somewhere that pays percentage rather than cpm.

Well this is true, but Roehl still has the "bottom feeder" reputation...

    :biggrin_25520:

I have 2 friends that drive for Roehl. They are (for the most part) OK with things.
One has not had a raise in 4 yrs now. Not even a 1/2 cent. That's obscene....

I met with a recruiter in 2009 up in Marshfield to see what the company was about.
They quoted me a turnover rate of 68% back then.
It was less than the others but nothing to brag about.

You could do a LOT WORSE starting out with some other carrier, so I think you got a good fair shot here.. :biggrin_25525:

PS. When the O/O time comes - DONT EVER LEASE FROM THE CARRIER YOU RUN FOR!
