Im looking for more or less a local job home every day type of job. Starting my own fuel hauling business after I gain experience working for another company is ideal and is a goal I have for myself. Main questions I have are
What type of trailer would you reccomend around 50-60k?
How do I get loads to fill the trailer? Im in central california
what could I expect to make on the low end with one truck and trailer?
starting a gas hauling business

Can you start your own gas hauling business..? I'm pretty sure that's all major contracts.
wis bang Thanks this. -
Yes you can..... Takes lots of insurance . But the real problem is the big players don't want to deal with a 1 truck o/o. That leaves the off brand x type of stations.
Your best bet is leasing to a regional bulk hauler doing gas and go from there......slow.rider Thanks this. -
Are you a terrorist ? I am pretty sure DHS is checking u out right now. Your profile says u r a student!!!! I don't think you could get insured any where . Bond alone would have to b in the millions.

Okay maybe starting my own business is the wrong wording, but buying my own truck and trailer and hauling fuel for companies

LOL !!! That's much better! Still I wonder how much ins will b with so little exp. How old r you by the way? I hauled fuel some years ago b-4 9-11 and there was a ton of regs for our company to meet then.

I am 21 but after im done driving and gaining experience with another company I will be about 25 when I buy my own truck and trailer

I know a lot of companies don't hire til 23, so be aware of that. Some hire at 21 or 22, but be sure to ask. With the kind of goals you have, and understanding that you'll have some time to wait, I'd just work on being a company driver and getting into a tanker division. I'm just guessing here, but I think most tanker divisions are probably gonna want you to be 23. Again, just check around.

Methinks you are gonna find out that your dream of hauling gas is is a mind-boggling experience. Get on with Kenan or KAG and try that for awhile and then figure out if this is really what you want to do.
bzinger and slow.rider Thank this. -
You're in central CA so you will need a carb complient tractor (2010 and newer) or a tractor with the emissions filter or 2010 engine. KAG requires 3 yrs experience with clean mvr.
