I drive a maxxforce now. Our company has been driving them for the last 3 years. I've been able to make a steady check. Many drivers make a steady check. It's important to read the manual, and do research on them. There are beneficial believe it or not....they're light, great on fuel, and are as reliable as any truck if you get a driver that will take care of it and treat it as his own. In fact, one of our trucks had a different motor put in, I can't remember the name but all the Maxx forces were supposed to be swapped out for that motor. Keep your maintenance up, get it checked out regularly, and you'll see profit

I did buy blind just because I like taking chances and saw a good opportunity or so I thought, I can definitely sell them and make much more than what I paid, and I know why they were repoed and have good diesel mechanics that have looked these trucks up and down. I also have some capital, I just thought turning this into a business was a better way to make money then just selling them. Drivers I can find as well. I meet drivers all the time making 800-900 weekly that have yrs of experience that are looking for something else. I just don't know the best way to set them up as. Everyone is saying sell them which I might do but just trying to get best informed on my options with my limited experience, thank you again!

$1500 is about average net pay for a lot of owners. It can increase, but it'll depend on how you manage costs and how well your loads pay. If you run the trucks full blown OTR once you get your feet wet, I don't see why you can't gross $200-$250k or better yearly. You just need some runners

Thank you, most of the owner ops that I have talked to which has been a lot over the short time I have been driving say if I had my truck and was running pretty hard I could expect to make about 2500-3k take home a week as well as what RAFA says that OO make 9-15k monthly net. I even met a guy that was only 25 running landstar that showed me briefly how they operate and he was running 4 days a week and taking home anywhere from 1900-2400 a week.

So you didn't read what I wrote.

Ok trucks are not cars, buying blind is not bright.

See here is one of the biggest issues with these ideas of building a fleet cheaply ... this isn't iabout you but it is all about the driver.

Starting cheap is wrong, it shows many of us fleet owners a lack of respect towards the drivers owners hire.

Your job is to follow through your obligation, many drivers have families, almost all have bills and not reducing your risks of downtime by properly buying a truck and making sure that it doesn't break down puts them at risks.

It is a scary thought putting someone else in one of my trucks but I can just sell them, and I am still working right now at swift to get to my 2yrs of experience at which that point I would like to drive my own truck. Just looking at all my options right now they are just decorations in my yard that have 20k of my money tied up in them. Which I need to figure out whether to just sell them or get this business under way as I am not going to keep 20k tied up for the next year when I will have 2yrs experience, Finding drivers I like to go and talk to people at truck stops and kinda get to know them and how they drive b4 mentioning that I may start my own company and if they are interested so I already have an idea of the person I could possibly put in the truck

I did read what you wrote and I not being cheap and haven't spared many expenses I told my mechanics let me know of anything that needs to be replaced or what should be serviced and treat it as your own truck and think would you want to drive it, and have been there next to them learning as much as I can about everything mechanical. I understand the driver is the most important asset and again if anything needs to be fixed or a driver would bring something to my attention I am going to have it fixed asap. and I have already thought that hey if the truck is down for a day then I will gladly pay that driver $150-$175 for that day the truck is in the shop. Everyone has bills or family or obligations to meet. Again just because I didn't pay to much for these trucks dosen't mean I am being cheap, I am not sparing any expenses, I have put a few thousand into them already making sure they are completely road ready

Also when I said I take chances, I just meant I saw what I thought was a good opp and went for it, I have bought a couple cars in the past without seeing them first which was a big mistake and I learned as they were lemons, I started a taxi company in 2 months and had 10 drivers working for me, all that did not have jobs b4 or were felons and couldn't get jobs and I hired them, I made the mistake of being their friend and actually hired friends which I learned was a bad idea. I took everyone out to Olive Garden b4 we started to hopefully build comradely and it back fired, had people not showing up when they were supposed to, people doing runs without approving through dispatch, smoking weed in my cabs, caught one driver getting a bj in my cab, one girl hit a fence the first night I opened.....etc. But at the end of the day I am still here it cost me a lot and I learned a lot, but it was a chance I took starting. Every entrepreneur took a chance at some point, I believe it does not matter how many times you fail you only need to succeed once. I am all about making sure everything is safe in my trucks and would like to know that I would feel safe if it was me driving that truck.
