Starting an LLC

    Hi all! Brand new so I'm sorry if I'm asking something that's already been answered.

    My dad owns a trucking company of about 16 trucks. My husband and I are looking to buy one of this trucks from him and run it under our business name but under HIS authority. The driver that is in it now will be employed with us. I'm confused about what all licenses, permits, etc. we need. We have applied for an LLC and gotten an EIN. That's as far as we've made it. Can anyone help in telling me our next steps?

    Don’t forget your lawyer needs to create a contract for your fil to have you sign.

    the really dumb question is why is he doing this when he could just give you a very small share of the existing company so you can get a dividend and eliminate the liabilities for you.
