I missed ONE point on that #### pre-trip. Something I had pointed out to other guys to make sure they got it! It was pretty funny.

Well, we finally finished all our safety classes, orientation and truck school. We can now actually start to work. The instructors at the school weren't sure why they sent us since we have lots of driving experience, but they paid for the hotel, food during class and paid a per down each day to us both so I can't complain. I am just ready to do some real work. We start Monday at 0600!

Nabors has their own truck driving school? Do you happen to know how I can apply for it? I didn't see it on their website.

Its not a school. You can't apply. They send new employees to training/testing at their yard in San Angelo.

In another thread TracyN said Nabors has an actual CDL school where they will train you to get your CDL as long as you have you permit, and she seems to confirm it here, that's why I was asking.

Correct. If you go through their hiring process and get hired, and you have your permit, they will teach you how to drive and then take you down to DPS to test. It is a "school" but only for employees. For instance, you could not go there, and pay for the school to get your CDL. Does that make sense?

That actually makes perfect sense, Sclumberger does the same thing but only for the frac equipment operators, not the actual drivers (at least that I know of). I'm filling out an online application right now. I didn't see Big Spring listed on the online application but I'm going to call them anyways as soon as I finish filling it out. Thanks for the info!

Not sure about Big Spring, but we are short drivers in Big Lake. Two different towns. :)

Ah ok, I got my towns mixed up, and funny thing is now that I'm on the website again I see Big Lake and Big Spring, but for vacuum truck and not tanker. Anyways, one more question if you don't mind, were people in your school hired on just for truck driving with their permits only, or were they hired on for something like frac equipment operator? Reason I ask is Schlumberger offered me a job for frac equipment operator and would have sent me to their CDL school, but that job only entails like 10% driving. They didn't hire on drivers this way.

Nabors would hire you as a vacuum truck driver. They will train you to drive, while you learn your actual job. They will send you to the school where they show you about defensive driving and show you backing maneuvers. I'm not sure if they will keep you in san angelo to get road tested and get your license though. When I worked there, I already had my license but really didn't know how to drive much. I drove good enough to get back to ozona ( where I worked) , so my mentor could show me how to drive, or at least be comfortable driving before they would release me on my own. One guy I know, had his permit and drove with another mentor and they sent him to sonora to get his license.
