That's a big no no... can't lea e the truck unattended at a truck stop. It's ok to eat, shower etc. but not having someone pick you up and take you home for a day or two.

The QC tracking will tell on you, and the fact you requested home time, and the truck is NOT parked at the approved location. A company driver must park the tractor and trailer at the location Stevens specifies. An alliance drivers has to park the trailer at an approved location, and has the option, if local ordinances allow, to take the tractor home. And if you think you can just park it at the truck stop anyway and go home, and something happens to that trailer and tractor while you are away, you will pay for it.

And yes other Stevens drivers will report the truck being unoccupied in a truck stop... they can be paid a reward for doing so.

As for having to pay the storage fee, that driver did NOT follow steven's policy, and was NOT parking at a steven's approved location.
I had to find a location to park the trailer at, due to living where I do, and would have had to pay for the storage fee if there was one, and Stevens would have reimbursed me for the trailer. I am an alliance driver. I park the trailer at the school I went to for NO charge.

In selected cases, there may be a charge for parking. but Stevens pays the charge as long as it's an approved location. If you want to pay and be reimbursed, that's fine.
If it's a cash flow issue, Stevens will issue a T check authorization.
I suspect the parking issue was not the real reason he left.

The key is follow policy. Not all KW, pete, Thermoking are stevens approved. And we all see the people who think they don't have to obey the law, so why would they obey a company policy?
