Starting CDL School Monday

    Hello. I was recently laid off from my IT job and can't stand the thought of another office job. Becoming an over the road trucker has long been on my mind; so now being unemployed, I am taking the plunge. I am starting my CDL training Monday. I am currently in the Charlotte area, but after I get my CDL in about 4-5 weeks, I am moving to the Denver area and will be looking to get on with a company out there.

    The companies I am looking at are:
    • Con-way
    • Schneider
    • JBS
    • Stevens

    Get prehire letters from as many companies as possible while you are still in school. If there is much of a lag between getting the CDL and starting company training, that will raise flags. Pick your company, start working and move when you are able afterwards. I believe denver is in the hiring area for all the companies you mentions. Then do the math and deccide which is best for you.
