I started looking at trucking 2 years ago but had a change of plans. Now I am back and ready to go and I have some questions because I am a newbie.
1. I have had 4 jobs in the last 3 years. Is that a problem for most companies? No driving or CDL jobs ever. Never fired. Always gave notice and never just quit. 2 of them account for 3 yrs 8 months of the 4 years and one is about 2 months right before I am done to start classes.
2. Is it better to start local or start out OTR/regional?
3. Any good companies (small to medium sized) in the Western PA area that a newly minted CDL can get you into?
4. Tanker or flatbed? I don't think I want reefer at all.
I am paying for my own classes which are about 6 weeks long (240 hours). I will have tanker, hazmat, doubles, triples, airbrake I think that's all of what we get. I also have a passport, no criminal record, no traffic citations (not even a parking ticket) and no drug use. I am in good shape. I can't think of anything else. Thanks for any info.
Starting CDL training in a few weeks

4 jobs in 3 years won't be a hindrance to a decent job.
OTR or local? That's personal choice. Some drivers don't want to venture too far from their zip code and some want to see the USA.
