We worked on a two week on one week off rotation. What I should have said was every day that I was scheduled to work. They also paid us forty hours on our week off and fifty dollars a day bonus.

They pay you for your week off? Why?

Edit: not complaining, just don't see the reasoning. I've been trained to be skeptical of such things.

The reason they did it was to keep your from working your days off. If you worked then you lost the free money. I was skeptical at first too but once you get out there and you see how many guys don't make it you see why companies are willing to do things like that to keep good hands. It has changed in the last year or so. There's not as many places paying your week off and most of them went to a shorter rotation like 8&4 or 10&5.

Me99 is right on, there is plenty of work in TX and OK. When you can leave your current employer, have a new job lined up in 24 hours, and make the same or more in pay then you know without a doubt the demand is still there.

seems like a great deal, why did you want to leave? Texas is too far for me since my family is in CA or I would be interested in this. Anyone know if there is much frac going on in the oilfields in CA? I live a hour from some of the largest oilfields in Kern county.
