Mclane Foodservice side hires driver helpers for 18hr start. Then they'll eventually want you to become a driver if you want because you know how to deliver now. They'll pay for school and have you with a trainer for 52k miles (around 6 months or until your comfortable) before letting you out on your own. You'll do shuttles or long routes in training.

I did household goods as a helper for 4 years before I got my A. right out of school I went to PFG out of Lebanon, TN. We ran in teams. Overnight drops into mid morning/lunch. Anyways, it was a 4 day work week, weekends off but I always ran a shuttle on saturday(I'm a little greedy lol) if you're in decent physical shape the job isn't really all that hard, except around the holidays. I left and I'm back at household again but i regret leaving. The money and benefits are great especially being fresh out of school. I would bring home over a grand a week. And the best part of that is you're just a company guy. Anyways sorry I'm rambling, but if you're not lazy and don't mind a little physical work I think food service is a great choice.

Try Prime, inc. Tanker division. You may be able to get weekends home depending on your location as a regional lease driver. I do not know how it would work out if you were a company driver as for home time.
