So I guess you got things lined out and are coming on down... That's good to hear Jim.

I will be getting there a couple of weeks before you... I will keep you posted as well.

    Good luck!

Well I do not know if I am going to get the state money or not to go to cdl training first.
It seems you get punished if you were productive the year previous to being unemployed.
I can not get va medical because I made too much money. And not this administrator has to think about letting me have the money because he thinks that I should be able to pay for it myself because of how much I used to make. If I was a total deadbeat, it would be no problem.
The main lady is the wife of a former truck driver and her son just got his cdl. So she may over rule him.
I sold my boat, my Lexus, and my tractor and that is what I have been living on.
I need to get something going. I explained to him that no one wants to hire me for the amount that I used to make. He does not think I can maintain the same life style on a trucking income. I told him the only lifestyle that I am interested in is not loosing my house and providing for my family.
So I will be coming. Just depends if I have my cdl or if I go through Prime's training.

I did not like the feeling on this guy having any control over my future. This is what it will be like under government health care. We are sorry Mr Menke, but we do not think that you are worth the money to save!

    Well good luck Jim.

Whatever happens, hang in there. You don't seem like the kind of guy that would let himself fail, in any case.

    I'm pulling for you.

I just got off the phone and they are going to put me through!!! I guess I made a good enough argument for myself yesterday. I have a meeting tomorrow at 9:00.
Hopefully I can get into class as early as next Monday. I am so ready to do this!

I am thinking of starting with Prime. My dad has a friend that works for them and he is a lease/operator making good money. He says that there class and training periods are one of the best out there. I think I'm gonna start after christmas. I have no previous knowledge on driving a large truck, do you think thats ok? Or should I study a little before I go? I'm new to this whole thing, this is actually my first day of research even though I have been thinking about it for a few months now. Your input on what they are doing with you is really good, thanks a lot xD

Btw, I live in New Mexico to.

I just applied to Prime the other day. I have spoken to my recruiter once, but have tried to contact him a few other times. Most of the time I get voice mail. Is this normal?

I have never driven anything bigger than a 28ft moving truck myself. I am going to orientation at Prime on Dec 29th. Their training program (the actual driving section) is so extensive that by the time you get your own truck, you will be relatively (I understand that driving is never totally comfortable) comfortable with driving it.

There is no instruction for your written permit test at orientation. You just get handed the manual and are told to study one evening before you take it the next morning. I suggest you go to your local DMV and pick up a CDL manual or download it online and study hard. Better yet, do what I did and go ahead and get your permit before you even get to orientation... one less big thing to worry about.

    Good luck!

Depends.... May be out sick, may have quit, may not care about you, may be too busy, may not want to hire you, may not be very efficient, may be over worked, ? ? ?
