First day at Crete...technically not orientation til tomorrow. I think I did 3 different piss tests today, strength test, DOT physical, a road test, and a ton of paperwork!
Good news is that they have me at the Holiday Inn here in Lincoln, NE. Nice place. Downtown with plenty of things to do in the evening.

The cafeteria at Crete is pretty good. Enjoy that hotel. Let us know how it goes...

If you lifted over 50 pounds on your strength test your first 1 year will be all hand bomb loads.

Sounds good. Haha! I was told something like 90% no touch. But of course that came from the recruiter, so you may be right.

I had to tailgate a load of insulation one time. One time. I now have a personal rule of 100% no touch freight.

Well, day two and three is all paperwork and videos. But now it's official....I'm a driver trainee for Crete! I just have a defensive driving class tomorrow. Talked to my trainer last night. He'll be here to pick me up after class tomorrow afternoon. If he has some time left on his clock we will head out to Oregon. Being straight out of school, I'll have eight weeks of training. I'll get four days at home after four weeks then head out for my last four weeks. The thing is that my trainer is scheduled for home time in a couple weeks. So I'll sit at a hotel for three days. Same thing will happen during my last four weeks. So really, I'll only be out driving for about six and a half weeks. Should finish training Sept 16th.
I'm thinking about starting a new thread with some kind of training title to record my adventure. When I do, I'll post the title and/or a link here if anyone wants to follow along.
Again, any advice from other drivers is always appreciated. Stay safe out there, drivers!

Thanks! And, yea...Honestly I was waiting for Averitt, but they just didn't have an opening on the route I wanted. Couldn't wait forever. However, it seems like Crete really has their stuff together. Pretty good people over here too. I may have just stumbled on to something good here.

Congrats! One bit of advice, keep Sept 16th in mind, but it might be a couple days later depending where you all are. You'll get there. I was straight out of school too. Just do your best. Let us know how you are doing.
