Good Evening Everyone! I'm considering either buying an existing brokerage business or starting one up from scratch. Does anyone know a good place to look for brokerages for sale or a good lead source to pull a list of established brokerages? I'm trying to avoid having to get a new MC and start from scratch with credit, carrier setups, etc. I appreciate the input!

I've been in the industry since 2008. Most recently I sold my last 3PL in 2016 and I'm ready to launch another one. After I sold I was an executive at the acquiring company and managed around 100 people with $100MM + in freight under management.PPLC Thanks this.

Hey Rocket, Congrats on the new journey BTW - I'm currently building out a new company as well. There's a lot of different ways you can find new clients. Lead sources, networking groups, online marketing, telemarketing etc. Most importantly if you've identified a unique niche or value proposition that you bring to the market, I would start by defining what your "ideal client" is that has a need for your service, and then target your marketing efforts toward your "IC" to give you the highest probability of closing.
Working "warm market" referrals is always a good cheap way to get started. If you have a good following on social media just start asking people to introduce you to one or two people in your targeted industry. I'd recommend you be specific when you ask for referrals though. Just asking if they know anyone who ships freight will generally lead to "let me think about it". Again - identify your IC and be specific. If your targeting produce companies - just ask them who they know that works or owns a produce company then get the contact and go deep on the lead until you find a DM that manages the shipping at that produce company. Hope this helps.JimmyTwoTimes, PPLC and Lite bug Thank this. -
Then I expect you've got a pretty good handle on things. Opposite of the usual folks asking your question.p608 Thanks this.
