Had I not did exactly that I would still be working in the financial services industry trying to trick someone out of there money in the Pacific North West.Getting my own CDL and making moves has liberated me. The Skills I've acquired and experience has given me the ability too stay liberated. If you get your Own CDL and you don't mind living in Amarillo or San Antonio I can get you Job at Big Red. I'm going on 3 years with MY CDL and see now that i can write my own Ticket somewhat. I can even go back home now the way I see it, but like all humans I'm a creature of habit lol.

Working Cement at Hali do you guys have the option of living in a man camp or do you have to find your own place in town?
-
No man camp for cement. When ure out in the field, u sleep in ur tractor....it has a bed in the back...if ure riding with someone, one sleeps in bed the other in the front seat..we usually get an extra mattress and lay it over the front seats...a lil uncomfortable but better than sleeping sitting down...
Other than that u will have to get ur own place in town.Texas Bound Thanks this. -
So I've read this thread twice now so forgive me if this was already covered. What is the hourly pay for cement and frac at the San Antonio yard. I saw someone write $15 an hour but I can't figure out if that was the San Antonio location or Odessa.
Additionally I have read that Halliburton likes to screw guys on overtime through their scheduling. For those who are currently there has that been the case? This thread is extremely informative as is and I appreciate the contributors to it as I start to look to get out of hauling water and into something with more upward mobility in terms of promotions and wages. Thanks.

Unless you are in CA where it is illegal to do so, all companies are going to screw you on OT through arbitrary payroll calendars. -
In odessa its 15 an hour from my understanding. San Antonio is 13-14 an hour....100+ hours a week

Hey Security do you happen to remember how many push-ups and sit-ups you had to do for your physical?
-
25 for each at least but u gotta keep going until time runs out...depends on age too
Texas Bound Thanks this. -
I work at Halliburton frac. First, we get tons of overtime, my "shortest" day was 14 hours last week, and even with that I'll still get around 180 hrs this paycheck. Frac starts at 13/hr, cement is more but you actually drive a lot more and have a 14/7 schedule (frac is 6/3) so you work 2 weeks and don't get paid for the third but those guys get a lot of hours too (re-read this thread).
The physical part varies according to your age and looking back now I can see why they ask you to do those the push-ups and all that, granted some guys have more endurance than others. Halliburton is big on body movement and not using unneeded energy (if you get hired you'll see this in orientation and in the field). Can't tell you how many times I've been told to do things a little more ergonomic and wouldn't you know they were it really helped. Frac is very physical, lots of standing and getting dirty (we ONLY stop fracing if it's lightning, otherwise rain/shine/cold/heat you're ### is outside. It's not hard but you have to get/be used to it otherwise you'll have a really hard time and wash out. Lots of characters out in the oilfield however.unloader and Texas Bound Thank this.
