And the ones that do take care of them sure aren't looking to sell them and if they are they won't come cheap.

    To the OP

If you want to run old iron the way to do it is stay at your company job while you get the old truck 100% road ready. Don't go off half ####ed because that will bite you in the ###. If it doesn't have a recent rebuild with paperwork plan on it very soon and have the funds to do it.

If you can't do the majority of the work yourself it's not worth it, just buy new. It'll save you money in the long run.

Sub Marino and Siinman Thank this.

If you're thinking about doing a L/P @D.Tibbitt might give you some advice on where to go. You will live in the truck or chances are you won't pay it off.

I loaded more on a 46x96 Merritt when I first started. Just had to use the top nose and the jail a lot more than the big straps at the time that had 50 footers.

I’ve had 66k net on my 53 too…. Just a 350 mile trip nearly new wagon let’s get apples to apples. You know as well as the rest of us 47 and 48 isn’t something they want to load anymore

Big difference in a 10 year old trailer and 30 year old trailer

I agree. Plenty of 48’s still being built and used today though. And I was replying because he didn’t imply it wouldn’t work because the trailer is worn out, he implied that physically the that size trailer wouldn’t work. If you use every compartment available to you then you can get the weight on a small trailer.

    California is the 48’s.

They are mostly butcher cows out that way. I’ve snuck into Cargill at Fresno plenty. Brought feeders outta the valley.

A 30 year old trailer that isn’t worn out….I have to see it to believe it
