Hi all
I'm a new driver, starting to look for work. I've applied at SGT, and they've offered 19 cents/mi when I'm with the trainer, 21cents/mi on what they call "rookie team". Are these reasonable for a rookie driver?
Thanks
Starting pay at $0.19/mi

Ouch!!

No way I would say at least .30cpm for the first 6 months then raises from there. I can't believe what these companies try to pay.

No. There is better out here. Keep looking.

Never heard of a rate that low!!!! Lowest I've heard of was 28 cents. I would try another company. Maybe USA Truck.
-
that is a very low rate of pay. but you do live up in Canada, so that pay may be in-line with your area.
you will have to prove yourself as a driver before you get a higher pay. many companies bump up your pay faster than you think, so they do not lose you, provided you are good. if you are not good, they will keep you at a lower rate.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
even transam starts at .30 cpm

Maybe I should expand on this a bit.
Trainer - 19cents/mi, 4 wks
Rookie team (me and another rookie driver, both up during day) - 21cents/mile 4-6mos.
Solo - 31cents/mi (4c/mi USA premium as well)
I'm mostly concerned about the pay with trainer and Rookie team... -
Still.....that really does not seem like a good opportunity.
You can make more than that starting out even during training....keep looking.

well i started at .25 with my trainer, .31 right off my trainer's truck and graduated quick scale to .35 at one year so you do the math....and get a .07 bonus for anything i run north of DC.....so that's .42 on more than half the runs i make at just 15 months....and it just goes up from there for the next 5 years
there's better out there do your homework and research and don't jusmp on the first thing that comes aroundThe Challenger Thanks this.
