I'm pretty new to this forum and going to prime for orientation in a couple days..I've gone thru the ringer over the last few months trying to get into trucking after my last job took me off my job for something that happened I had absolutely nothing to do will but was blamed because the supervisor didn't want to take the fall for it and lose his job. Took a paycut of $120 a week take home and from that day I started pursuing trucking..It's been an uphill battle starting with no trucking experience. I've been doing a lot of research on different companies with paid training. I was going to go with Maverick but after things fell thru after getting my CDL permit and not getting behind the wheel experience so I could take and pass the road test (a couple people told me they would give me), I decided to go with Prime. I am determine to get thru the training there and make it. I know what to expect reading lots of great info here..I'm sure if it all works out I will get to know a lot of you here.

Well Sorry to hear of your last situation! Prime is what you make of it, hey will run your back ground your forward and side ways as fell! Their training pay has changed recently so it isn't to bad to run team while you are training! Good Luck. If you drink don't do it while even being close to the truck! They frown on that!

My husband drives for Prime, he came in from another company so did not have to do the schooling part. They do have the best pay for training compared to most, and Springfield is not too far from you.
It is a learning experience though, so take it from there. You will be team driving on the 2nd phase, what I believe they call TNT. You have a lot to learn besides driving, I hope your trainer will pass onto you his experience, winter is here in a lot of places already.
If you can take your laptop, when you are out on the road, take and Google map the route, it gives you a better grasp of what the map looks like and you can zoom in and see things like where the docks are located; there are occasions though that when the map was made these businesses weren't even there. Also have a good Rand McNally or other truck route map book. You will need to be able to use this to find your route. Your trainer may or may not have a GPS in his truck, these are only a tool though, but they do make life easier in my opinion.
There is a Walmart in walking distance of Prime if you need to buy anything. You have meal vouchers while in class. The Campus Inn is like a motel, they have their own sheets and towels, etc.
Make sure you have a birth certificate with the seal on it for getting your passport. The w2's I believe for the last 2 yrs work, plus 10 years work information. A non-laminated social security card.
Good luck. You will have to keep all of us posted on how things go.d o g Thanks this. -
I really hope I have all the paperwork I need - I printed off the list they sent me and checked every box, and then added a few more papers of my own just in case. I know my recruiter "verified" me already, but I'm not sure if that means they already verified my work history or ? Not that I'm worried about anything, but you know, it sounds like a lot of people don't even make it to a truck and it would suck to go all the way down to Springfield just to turn around and go home for something stupid!
d o g and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Make sure you take a copy of all emails you sent to your recruiter also, to include your App. It will help when you going in for the interview, where you can say, yep I said this and this.
Good luck and have fun.NavigatorWife Thanks this.
