Like anywere if just starting out or a 23 years at the buss, you have too start some were and no matter the pay, you have too show your net worth ,as in hard work and prove too them in a year that you can do the job , i plan too talk to them this fall, thats why i'm saving up , so my rent is paid is for 2 months till i get my own truck, then anthor two months building up my pay , becuse they hold one week pay back , then the rest be direct depoist in my account , so that why i need too save up , too eat on the road and be comfy out there, not go there with no money, and get sent home home for some reseons :biggrin_2556:

I know it's an overused cliche' but it's true... "Your ATTITUDE determines your ALTITUDE" Keep your chin up and your mind positive. Yes Sir and No Mam go a long way towards good loads and fast repairs. Also Tip your waitress... she puts up with the other drivers!

Blessings to you on your new adventure. Keep a positive attitude no matter what others may say and you will go far. I am not starting with Swift, but I am starting with another starter company they pays a little lower, but it's about getting your foot in the door and learning how to drive safely all over our great country. Hey trucking school may get discouraging some days, but keep your head up and smile.

if you need to get a start somewhere swift is good for that. After a year or two with an excellent drivng record you would be better off switching companies. Swifts pay scale goes to the toilet after year one. Only one cent a mile raises per year for the next three years.

Tell them you want to pull the trailer attached to someone elses truck. Apply at other companies. You are not required to hire with the company. There are other a lot of other companies that hire trainees and pay around $.30 a mile or more. Flat starts around $.36. or you will be there after a 6mth probation period.
