Swaps GOOD LUCK!! Try not to stress about your BP -easier said then done yes I know-you might have ''white coat syndrome'' which elevates your BP when it's being checked. Stay away from anything with caffine prior to your BP check- do some deep breathing/relaxation too. If you smoke try not to for 2 hrs prior (raises BP cuz your blood vessels constrict) Make sure that if they are checking your BP manually (cuff and stethoscope vs electronic kind) that the Cuff fits your arm correctly! (ie that the cuff is not too small -that are actually lines on to size an arm) If you have a big arm and they use a regular size cuff it can/will give an incorrect reading (high). Also make sure you have rested at least 15 minutes (sitting) prior to check not just have you walk in and take it. Also if they have to re- pump up the cuff or pump it too high that too can cause a false high reading. I am an RN and have seen so many false readings d/t people (including nurses and doctors) DO NOT know how to correctly take a BPI hope this helps you and again good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
starting to get nervous

I'm just fine when my doctor is taking my pressure. But when it's someone new I do get a bit nervous. The size thing kinda sucks though. The Occupational Clinic I went to had a couple sizes, but my arm is too big for the little one, and too small for the big one. It didn't really matter, too high is too high. But I'm on some meds now. I know about the caffine thing. I've only been drinking water for 2 weeks now. Which really sucks because I LOVE Barqs rootbeer, and I havn't had anything really salty for a couple weeks too. I check the sodium on everything I've been eating. It doesn't really help that I didn't really have a lot of options since I'm limited by my current amount of cash. (I have an emergency fund of $9 in my wallet) But I think I've done well. i guess it's good that I had that or I never would've known it got that high. But like I said, I'm on some medicine now and it has dropped back to what it was before I came the first time. Plus, I'm at the motel already. Got here arond 5:30pm. Which is a LOT better then 11:00pm last week. So I'll have plenty of time to wind down from the car ride and try to relax a little bit. I have some soups and stuff to tide me over. But once I pass my DOT tomorrow I'm thinking of blowing my 'emergency' cash on KFC or something!

Good luck again Swaps !! Sounds like you are doing everything you can to help your BP!
and thanks Landstar2206! -
passed the BP test. But I had to wait like 40 minutes to 'produce' for the drug test, and of course, after that I kept 'producing' all freakin' day because I drank so much water at the dr's office.

Oh, and I guess I can take the "student" off my "trucker?" question!

Now you are a ''newbie'' -
had my driving test today as well. I did really well considering I hadn't been in a truck for two weeks. I need to spend more time backing, but, what newbie doesn't.
