Thats very odd, I'm at the termanal (indy)every other week and the only trucks I have seen there where ones that drivers have and as far as Green bay goes there are none there at all, I had to wait for my truck to get there then be prep, we just picked up a new account and they are building a new termanal in indy, and the account is requiring 62 decated drivers starting in july,

Sorry you miss understood what I was speeking about, SMITH system does work, the reason I did not say anything was I had both hands on the wheel and was watching the road no time to talk, I guess that was bad judgment I should have drove like a fool and that way I could have been there on the side talking to the other driver, also it was "funny" as in odd, scary, weird, strange.. everyone eles saw what was going on.. and stop, no one eles hit anything.. this all happened over about 60 yards or so, if I did have time to reach for the mic and say hey Roehl there is stoped traffice in front of you I know he would have said " YOU DRIVE YOUR TRUCK I'LL DRIVE MINE " you know the type

I did not stop cause of where I was and the traffic the line of cars that was there, there was lots of people to help, why add more to the problem, agian bad Judgment

so, yes I am new thats why I have started this topic, I hope everyone learns for advise from me and others, I was in the right not to be blabbing on the C.B. I should have been watching the road. if you don't you will end up like the other truck..

As I was reading your post Tonka I kind of thought the same as CC did but you did good. Sounded to me you didn't drive agressive like the other guy and that prevents accidents. Can't drive another rig by CB and most of the time warnings come from on coming traffic by CB. Never trust the CB and when I drove everyone was cool. Must be those e-logs that cause tempers because you can't fix hand writing mistakes so you don't get stuck in a dirt lot for 34 hours.

Dont beleive everything you here. When I started here the turn over was below 40%. Then indy terminal alone is way over 70%. When trucks are empty it is because a driver left. They do not have spares sitting around. When you go on vacation if over five days you get to clean your truck out and leave it at a terminal for someone else to use. Just keep your eyes open and watch your back, lots of drivers that are spys, never got that one either. Anyway I wish you luck and keep it safe and legal.:biggrin_25519:

Sounds like sour grapes to me. You have not yet disclosed who this magical local company is. I can only speak of my own experience with GTI, which has been good. Yes, I am on the west coast and yes I do get all the miles I can handle. I stay out 4-5 weeks by my own choosing. I like the 4-5 days off. Works for me, but, probably not for everyone.

No sour grapes, just fact. The midwest is dead, nothing but short no mileage loads with pickup one day deliver the next. It is hard to make money that way. I will say there training is second to none. There equipment, well that leaves something to be desired, way to many e trailers. The company I am now with is very small 100 drivers, that is what I want plus home every weekend. I will never understand why when someone leaves a company its sour grapes. They were not a good fit, no miles no money end of story.

CC is right in every aspect...Until you work at GTI and talk to the drivers, there's really no way you can know the truth.Gti is a good co. but they have been losing a lot of veterans left and right...They need to get back to the way they used to be and treat drivers and their equipment better. The best truck I had was an 02' model...oh yeah it had 750000 miles too and was going to be replaced anyday now...And also for all the newguys out there...when you see a avoidable accident you had better be on that CB to warn other drivers of the danger..it's only right...And believe me, you don't want to see the carnage that i've seen..it's not easy to forget that. :biggrin_2554:
