They certainly have! Many important ones, however despite those cuts, I still think TMC could be a good starter company, especially for a driver who has no experience. There are not too many companies willing to take a chance on rookies. TMC is one that is. They have treated me fairly. Been there about 15 months. I have some complaints, but none are really significant. YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) Literally. TMC has treated me more than fairly in my short experience with them.
You leave orientation on friday afternoon, your trainer should call you either late friday or sometime on saturday and you make arrangements to meet him on sunday to leave out. He will usually be home with a load to be delivered on monday morning so the adventure begins right away. In some cases, if you want to, the trainer can pick you up right from the hotel in DSM. TMC is by no means a perfect company, but I believe it is a good company and a good place to get a start. So far, I'm happy here and I plan to stay for a while. I understand there will be good weeks and bad weeks. But I also know that will be the same at any company, so why go anywhere else? The only thing I really don't like so far is that I get passed by everything but a John Deere!
I liked them for most of my tenure here, once you see some of the politics, micromanagement, illogic, arrogance, and downright stupidity, your opinion might start to shift. that doesn't mean they haven't been fair to me.
the point I was trying to make was that at one point, TMC was a company you could make good money at, and potentially retire from. all that has changed in the last few months.
I have to agree with carter, the people who have been with TMC remember what it was like before the changes thus being a little upset with the current direction they are taking. Actually we all would probably have no problem dealing with the changes due to the current economy if we felt that the company was being honest and open with the drivers/employees about the current situation and changes but it seems the communication is lacking in that department as well as the dishonesty helps to get some tempers to flare a bit on different issues.
I got orientation on the 7th. sucks tho tmc is the only pre-hire i got. The speeding ticket a year a go i got really didnt help me. I really got no other choice but to go w tmc or not even if they are a bad company. but hey im sure they arent the worst company out there. Any advice for new drivers on the road? Thankx
