They are not laying anyone off, I called a friend in admin and they said thats not the case they are however cutting back on hiring. And not filling trucks if a driver quits.

Hi all. Just wanted to post an update. I'm pretty happy so far. My trainer and I get along great and he's teaching me, not yelling at me. I know I've gotten luck. One of the guys I went through training with hates his trainer. The guy yells at him and belittles him all the time. Not my trainer. He's getting me as many hours as I want when we have a load. I have three 600 mile days in my first week. One of those was 668 miles.

I will say I'm not real impressed with dispatch, especially night dispatch. Day dispatch sent us to a company to pick up an mt trailer, there were none. We then sat for 5 hours. We asked to go back to the terminal for the night and they said ok. On the way back they got us a load and told us to go back to the same company to check for an mt. We reminded them that we already did that. They finally found an mt somewhere else. We picked it up and headed for the load at the Werner drop yard. Got bad directions and if it wasn't for the GPS that I brought with me we would still be looking for the drop yard (it was about 1/2 mile away in a different industrial complex).

Other than things like this, everything is going well.

Hey S&S-student, I thought you were going to TMC? I know Luca is there and not really enjoying all the paperwork and classroom time.

They will not. Quit being sore over getting fired. If anything considering us running like crap, and the amount of late loads we have, we should have been fired a long time ago if they are firing for every little thing.

I start orientation there VERY soon too so I dont know if I may be like a gentleman on another board because he finished his time with a trainer but there was nothing available for him for a week maybe 2.......I just hope everything goes well I dont mind taking a hit and doing low miles during these trouble times because something is better then nothing.

Hey BigDD any updates? Just wanted to let you know of my experience at TA went, I am all done, got assigned my truck today of course one of the old ones, funny though, it is 4yrs old and only 175k miles, so its fairly clean. Wish it was a condo but it isnt, its a midroof Columbia. You were talking about your night dispatch, ours is a little different than I have read on other threads. Our night dispatch is very limited we are assigned a FM that works m-f 0700-1700 and they are the only ones that can send out trip plans and pre plans, no one else can so if not assigned a trip by 5pm not going to get one till the next morning. Thought it would suck but they are pretty good about prelanning and at least I know I can geta good nights rest without being disturbed. We are assigned a transition FM to start then when they see we are doing good, we move over to the main FM. Wish I could say the same for my trainer, he was okay and knew his stuff but he was a very grumpy type, and hard to ask questions without getting a crappy response, so I just didnt ask questions.

Sorry all. I know it's been a while since I posted an update. Been having problems with my connection while I was on the road and been busy driving.

Things are going well. My trainer is great. He really tries to plan our shorter trips so that I get a majority of the driving hours if I want them. He leaves it up to me which is nice. I checked my hours the other day and I'm farther along then I thought. Should be done within the next 3 weeks, less if dispatch runs us like they were before this hometime break.

I am enjoying myself and the experience so far. I beleive the fact that I have a great trainer makes a huge difference.

Glad you got a good trainer. A good trainer combined with a good attitude will help get your wheels under you very well. Keep us posted as best you can!

So very true , it takes 2 to get good results when training , trainee who wants to be there and a trainer who wants the trainee there.
