At this point with the way things are I'm applying to everybody just so I can find some work. How are things going with you? Hope they're going well. Do you like the company you're working for? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Actually I did go out to Indiana and trained with Transport America. Have you applied with them? Do it! Great training, really nice people. Experienced!! I trained on an '08 Frieghtliner Columbia with only 165,000 miles on it. And thats all they have are newer Columbias. Was a good experience overall. I learned allot. I would recommend ANYBODY to try and get in with them. It's a really good company. The worst part of it was the 20 hour bus ride out there and back. They are thorough with the in class testing and yard manuevers. But after many hours of thinking about all the things attatched to OTR trucking, the way frieght is slow right now, I decided not to continue on with the OTR trainer. Nothing against him OR TA. I just realized/decided that OTR would not be my thing. Takes a certain type of person to be out there 2-3 weeks at a time. Being away from home, leaving my girl, my family, my house being empty for so long....I just decided against it. I still got paid for the orientation though. But what happened D, is, a couple of days after I got home from TA, I got a call from my old bosses brother. He owns an excavating company in Tabernacle and he heard I went to school and all that, so he offered me a job driving a tri-axle dumptruck. I said hell yeah!!!! It's hourly, local, no logs, no truckstops, no trip planning, no offtracking, none of that. It's been working out pretty good so far, and I would say I am making more $ starting out in this than I would be OTR. So it's going good.
Have you heard from Luca or anybody else from school?? I have only been in touch with that girl Alicia. Hey, can you blame me??:biggrin_255:
    She's driving for Covenant.
Let me know how you make out.
    Happy Holidays!

Oh yeah, D, I did apply to about 20 companies before I went with Transport America. And I was offered orientation from; Maverick, Arrow, TransAm, Roehl, Werner, Swift, Prime Inc, Watkins-Shepard. So just keep trying, something will come along. Good luck.

How much is orientation and training pay at Werner, TA, or any of the other outfits? Seems like for at least a month and a half that is all you will be making so it is somewhat important. I'm pre-hired at TMC but $300 a week for 7 weeks is a lot to ask.

    hey cpl mac2
Werner orientation & training 300hrs pay $800.00 a week plus 500.00 bonus if you finish training.

just kiddin orintation & 300 hrs training pays ; first half 325.00 a week second half 350.00 a week &500.00 bonus if you do it without stopping , or you can go home for a week in the middle of your training paid but no bonus & I was told that it was your choice . I got this info. from recruiter at school if any one find it different PLEASE correct me . Because as we all know recruiter have a tendency to sweeten the pot at time for their own good . YOU ALL HAVE A SAFE & HAPPY NEW YEAR.............

Yes, correct, $325 for first 3 weeks or better to say first 150 hours, $350 for second 150 hours and bonus is $500- that is first hand info, I've ben there, if you want can take one week paid between two 150 hours, paid of course:biggrin_255:, and yes that is not much, but that is what they pay, and 150 hours is not always 3 weeks, especially first round...

Hey Joe. Glad to hear things are working out for you. I figure something will open up now that the new year is here.

I talk to Luca about once a week. He's doing good. Likes his company and seems to like the job. I'll tell him you said hi.

So you talk to Alicia huh (no I can't blame you). What's Jimmy got to say about that? LOL

Take care. I'll keep you posted. Hey, is your old bosses brother hiring (shameless ain't I). It would beat sitting home right now. Let me know. Thanks
