Having an auto is a real luxury, one pedal go, one pedal stop. I have driven big trucks with both and it is easier using auto shift. Having a manual just means the driver has more to do when accelerating and during deceleration. Driving 18 gears in a Heavy Haul is not needed to pull a van grossing 40 tons. I think its good having a choice, auto or stick for regular feight.
