Can I ask how many drivers on you have your board? Thats some very personalized service.

I believe that the dispatcher should take care of the driver as much as the customer. Most customers understand if a load is late, they just want communication. My guys are important to me. Without my drivers, I don't have a job!

    Flyer Thanks this.

Listen to the radio, talk on the phone to someone, and all the other typical things like coffee and smoke.

Sorry don't do to many of the new bands but nothing picks me up better than some Molly Hatchet's Flirtin' With Disaster or something from the Motor City Madman Uncle Ted Nugent.....

Finding someone who you get along with to run with also helps. Me and my uncle or dad could truck for quite a while on very little sleep. I had a friend I used to truck with, we trucked for a week on very little sleep running back and forth from cleveland to columbus. We knock down some good money that week!

Nowadays 99% of trucking is computer controlled and you are only gonna run your 11 hours and thats it.

If they have to call you just to take a nap then your running them to to hard. Give your drivers more time to get the job done. Then they can take a nap, or get out of the truck and wander around a bit without the load being late.

I have never called dispatch to tell them I'm going to rest for a bit, and never will.

Starting early for me works the best, usually an hour before sunrise as I can start driving in the dark, I just hate driving at the end of my day when it's dark and it's tougher to find a place to park in the evenings...By the time the 11th hr of driving comes around, I'm ready to relax and I still have plenty of time for personal stuff before it gets too late...I also am one of those that only need 5-7hrs of sleep and I'm good...Some need more and will have to adjust as necessary...

I love it how many of you guys are metalheads. I mean, most truckers get the rap for listening to country. I used to lose my signal a lot to those with a strong satellite broadcast... I listen to it too, dont get me wrong, but metal!!

I had to share my thoughts.

While soda provides some energy, I find drinking water helps. Plus the more you drink then you have to stop to use the bathroom. Then again with my BP medicine any amount of fluids I drink I'll have to stop and use the bathroom anyway.

Getting out of the truck every so often to stretch helps, too.
