    my truck a '10 Volvo with a D13, idles at .3-.5/hr.

the company allows it and I don't run the northeast or Cal, so the anti-idle Nazi's don't bother me.

had a Mass state trooper wake me up about 10 yrs ago , it was 0200HRs, 4 degrees and snowing. he wanted me to turn off the truck or he'll ticket me.

I didn't and he did. company paid it. don't remember how much it was.

I try to stay with the smaller companies that understand these things.

Well don't forget the damage that idling does to a large diesel engine. Condensation because of the low engine temperature combines with the sulphur in diesel fuel... you get sulphuric acid that scores the cylinders over time.

true, but in this case it was giving the company some benefit of the doubt by figuring the cost savings of reduced idling at the lower fuel price.

regardless of the industry, its always been a source of amazement to me that more companies do not employ an incentive program to get employees to do what is desired of them. an employee should always be rewarded for better performance. not because the EMPLOYEE deserves it, but because it always enhances the company's bottom line. if i as the trucking company know you are gonna save me 4 bucks every hour you dont idle, it only makes sense to work out mathematically how i can give you 50 cents to a dollar for every hour LESS that you idle.

I am surprised I haven't posted pics of my setup but I have my own power supply powerful enough to power everything except my microwave.
