Lots of people cite the Constitution for things and that's great, BUT, the Constitution is the contract between us and our government. Not us and our employer. Not us and our buddies.

Yes, I was using nudity as an extreme example, but case law from SCOTUS down has shown that public nudity for protest purposes is Often considered Protected Speech.
Just as porn and strip clubs are only legal under 1A protection.
But, just like with firearms, free speech is properly allowed to have limits on it, to protect the rights of others.
And that includes the rights of property owners and companies to decide whether guns are allowed. -
Actually that is not quite all true. The constitution is more then what you speak of. It is the linchpin of what everything hinges on. It spells out basic rights and liberties and is the bedrock of court after courts opinions on what spells out those freedoms and rights. While it is not specifically spelled out in the document the laws since passed that spell out the rights of employees to work in a safe place etc etc find their authority as spelled out in that document. However there are limits placed on rights and liberties. One famous example is you are free to go out in the wilderness and scream FIRE all day long, but you are not free to do so in a crowded place like a theater. Or your right to swing your fist ends at the tip of anothers nose. Same principal is at play with firearms. I know I will draw criticism on this but it is my opinion (based on research done) that using a firearm for protection generally is not worth a #### because in that split second of truth a huge amount of firearm holders will hesitate. It is that hesitation that is deadly. If you don't believe me ask someone that teaches personal protection. It is like I said earlier. I prefer a tire thumper because I believe I can do more damage with it and not have to worry about some state like some in the northeast and Midwest that have horrible gun laws as it deals with personal protection, Carthago delenda est.

Hmm
Free speech is a right. But being naked isn't speech,it's just interpreted that way by some. The Supreme Court was clear on forms of speech. The second amendment holds for a free militia, which in and of itself is defined by the means to defend a free people against tyrannical government. You can't do that without weapons, and weapons that have the functions similar to the said government. To me the fascinating part is the historical aspect. Why on earth would a free people want to give the government control over their means of defense? As history shows, that's the first step a tyrannical government takes.
But in all honesty this isn't the place. I was just wondering if there were companies that allow it. Seems there might be, albeit far and few between. Given current laws, I understand. -
Black: Wrong. You are talking about employment laws. Those can be found in Federal Statutes (not the same thing as the Constitution), and State/Local Statutes. These statutes have to keep the principles of the Constitution in mind, but are not PART of the Constitution.
Red: Depends on intent and if those actions cause panic to the public.
Green: Agreed. Lethal force should be LAST resort. Yes, lots of people are more talk than anything. "I'd do this, I'd do that". You don't know what you will do in any given situation. You can train some techniques so when under stress you have tools at your disposal, but when it's on, it's balls out and ya gotta do what you gotta do. I've been in ONE situation as a Security Officer where I came within a split second of having to use lethal force and that was while exhausting all other options. -
OP asked if it was safe out on the road to park. My take on it is that it is safe 99.99999% of the time. I have NEVER in my life, driving a big rig or being a civilian, felt a need to carry a firearm. Ever.
Truth be told, I think carrying a firearm might have been a detriment a time or two. Far better to have your wits about you and the ability to engage folks with respect.
I'm out of this thread.Ke6gwf and texasbbqbest Thank this. -
In my opinion with regards to guns & trucking, the best plan is "don't ask, don't tell."Ooops and Claysapparel Thank this.

Always the best plan.

Not just in trucking. I saw a guy open carrying the other day with a 1911, ####ed and locked with no thumb break snapped on his holster. From a tactical standpoint, it just screams "Durrrrrr".
When I carry, it's always concealed, and I'm always scanning other people...lilillill, Claysapparel and texasbbqbest Thank this.
