That looks a lot like Ashburton Ave in yonkers. Sadly, google street views doesnt go down to the end of it, where the big grade is.....but it does show some nice hills on it. I'm pretty sure i scraped an underpass at the end because the hill was so steep and my tandems werent all the way forward...heh!
I really wonder what they take the street views with. Sure are a lot of places where the street views end a block away from a low bridge, steep grade, etc....funny...
Steepest grade you ever pulled or went down.....

22%. Dropped my trailer at customer in White Rock BC, and bobtailed a couple of miles to the beach for some R&R. The road was a 2 lane drop to a 'T' intersection at the bottom. I practicly skidded all the way down while in low gear. Everything in the bunk was now on my dash!!! I was shaking so bad..... I may have pooped myself!!LOL. I found a better way back up.

But, trucking is easy, just ask anyone driving a 4 wheeler. We just sit back and listen to the tunes and talk on the CB like Smokey and the Bandit.

In the alberta oilpatch these roads are not all highways they are cut lines, gravel raods, etc. When Mammeot pulls some of there 180000lb+ loads up these hills it's not just one truck it usually 5 to 6 pullers and 5 to 6 pusher's (and these truck's don't have S40's they have planetary rearends) with support and backup top and bottom! So BS i think not my good man but thank you for the criticism. If you don't beleive youtube Mammoet.

When I was married to my wonderful 3rd wife the French Canadian, She showed me some Steep Grades Way up North of Montreal, She started driving up there and was very good at negotiating them, but she really scared the hell out of me, we were on some crazy road about 20 miles from a paved road in Northern Quebec, Snow was coming down like crazy, I could not see the road, but she swore she knew where she was going. We came around a massive curve, and I kid you not I could not see the bottom of the road, she went down the thing going 65, I was screaming like a Baby after a nipple, She told me to f in relax we had to have our speed up to make the next hill. We were in a w-9 with a 550 cat,4.10 and 18spd tranny at the bottom of the hill, If we had been stopped I seriously doubt we could have made it up the other side. Not without 2 pullers and no less than one pusher. Oh and we were pulling a RGN Transformer with 65k on the deck of the transformer, a Small Electric motor for some mine up there.

I have been puuled by a d-8's winch line and lowered the same way with a load of cows in a truck and trailer. been on a 26% where they deadlined me to a d-6 so my brakes would hold me.

driver if you can't control you rig on those two grades you might want to think about finding another line of work. I have gone over both of those loaded with no jake brake and never smoked my brakes.
