Got to hand it to WyDOT. They did a good job with the signs. If only they had it in nine languages...

I have never done this in a truck but I have done it probably about 100 times in a race car and been up and down it with the f750 and a 28' race hauler. Apparently it's 20% , I would describe it as driving up a wall but I don't have the experience all of you guys have so I am probably exaggerating.

HAW driving up a wall. That's not exaggerating at all.

I actually had my bonafide no *&^% runaway with just bobtail on about 20% one fine day. Came off the top at 60 and away she went. I managed to get that little kitty Jacobs going seeing nothing but sky. I pushed it beyond redline and she took it that one time. Enough to slow. I wasn't sure if the engine will take that abuse when I forced it there. Either way we are dead man driving. I rather get down in one piece and not have to explain anything to the company.

I love my Detriots and Macks, but a good kitty makes trucking a very nice way to pass the time.

And three different crayon colored and contrasted signage in something other than Arabic Standard number system and American feet and inches.

Then condense everything else to just two phrases. Easy learn.

    1: "Yea high"

    2: "You aint that way."

That should take care of it. They would invade and subjugate the entire USA but they will never take West Virginia.

It's a lot more fun going up at 100mph in a race car than having to come down with the truck and trailer. 5-10mph the whole way down. Back before I had the Ford I used to tow a flat trailer with my suburban and that was horrible. 5mph the whole way down on the brakes and they would stink for about 30mns after you park in the pits at the bottom.

I never had the pleasure, lord knows the hills in my area were not that big or foreboding with that little 351 v8 in those days. However I had a friend whose touch on driving is beyond talented. He bet me 100 dollars plus repairs that we would not run 12 miles across hill country on a ice storm in progress to his place from ours.

And so he opened up the engine and were arriving at his place in around 25 minutes in sheet ice in some places and taking advantage of gravel ice in the valleys. All I remember is just the red line of the engine as he hooked the tires on the bad ice that had the surface for traction. And backed way off it on sheet ice that you skate on. Learned from him too.

(Had 225 Michelin with hard compound for traction. They cost a pretty penny along with the Nitrogen gas shocks back then)

The being scared for life? I faintly remember that too but a few shots of Mr Daniels took away the shakes. And no damage either.

You wont be catching me doing stuff like that in a race car.

  11. yes indeed and one thing you can definitely say when it comes to both of these Hills when you're a Burgess Junction drivers really do check their brakes..not go through the motions but really check their brakes lol..
