So I added air ride kit in between front springs and frame and the shop tells me alot of guys who do this dont even need to run shocks. Anyone ever heard or know of such?

If air bags mean you don't need shocks then why does pretty much every air ride suspension come stock with them?
Shocks control spring jounce and you'll probably still see those oscillations with air bags.p608, singlescrewshaker, Roberts450 and 3 others Thank this. -
In the US, you are not required to have shocks on springs, but you better have shocks on air ride.singlescrewshaker, Roberts450, AModelCat and 2 others Thank this. -
Air ride requires shocks. More so then spring. Some air ride on the steer axle even have 2 shocks per side.
Your guy don't know what he's talking aboutlittle cat 500, Roberts450 and AModelCat Thank this. -

I put air bags on my '96 IHC 9200 and was told the same thing.
that lasted 90 miles and I hunted up a set of shock mounting plates from a Volvo.
That allowed me to bolt it under the axle using longer U-bolts and had to shift the shock top mount back to prevent the bags chaffing. I had to find a different shock to fit and control the air spring action.
I loved that ride after that to the point that I kept running that truck until 2009 (3 sets of front shocks later)swaan Thanks this. -
