Was given a brand new truck to use today and during my inspection I noticed it has disc brakes up front. Anybody have experience with these? Anything I should look out for mechanically or in terms of performance?

Disc brakes are better then drum when it comes to stopping power, I have thought heavily into buying the conversion kit for disc all the way around. Not to mention if you change your own brakes they are a hell of alot quicker to change.

You should definitely have more stopping power and less brake fade....

Haven't worked on a truck with disc brakes, but I usually do my brakes at the tire shop. When they pull the inside wheel off, I pull the drum, shoes, install the new shoes, and have the new drum put on before they have the wheel ready to go back on. Drums on a big truck are pretty simple, really...not much to them.

Wait until you do disc brakes. You might have them done before they roll the tire away.

Done disc brakes on light trucks and motorcycles...can be a real PITA if clips and pins are seized up. Drums on those are a little more complex, but still not too bad.

All our Volvos made after 2012 have disc brakes on all three axles. No worries about adjustment. Made my level 1 in Chowchilla, CA on 99 really quick, lol. Got a CVSA sticker. :)

I never got inspected so often in all my life (except for my time hauling logs) as when I had that silly CVSA sticker on my truck. Seemed like every inspector was out to find that 1 thing the last guy missed. After the 4th inspection in 2 months, I peeled the #### thing off and haven't been bothered again since.
