Me too, just curious how them newfangled disc-brake-thingys work. 'Preciate yer honesty, driver. Better than making stuff up!

Parking brakes are applied by the brake can, same as drum brakes.

I do little better pretrip. I like rolling not out of service bc I didn't check stuff over lol.

Thanks. I was so amazed to see a disc there that I didn't take the time to really check out the whole setup out. I assumed they were only used on steers because it would be harder to design a "maxi"-type spring brake chamber, since there wouldn't be an S-cam like there is for drum brakes. I'll take a longer look next time I get one of those trucks. I have yet to see any that have discs on other axles, though.

Works the same, just no S-cam or slack adjuster.

No. I'm always in pursuit of them.

my rear drum brakes lasted me just over 1 million miles.... haven't changed the front yet

When you're OTR and stick to the big road, you don't wear out what you ain't hardly using. I run local and spend most of my time on 2-lanes, where brakes are used a little more frequently. Changed my fronts last year...first time I'd done them (owned the truck 7 years at that point). Drives need replacing a little more frequently.
-
The worst part with them is the brake dust on my nice, clean, shiny wheels after some decent stop n go traffic. But the performance is totally worth it, especially coupled to a disk brake trailer.
bottomdumpin Thanks this. -
You check mudflaps?? That's to far to bend down...
