Yokohama RY 617 have done really well for me. Good price, good rolling resistance, even wear pattern.
-
Thanks for the replies, Tire dealers in my area carry General, Kelly, Bridgestone,Toyo, Hankook and Yokohama.
Anyone buy tires in the Atlanta Ga area from a reputable dealer? -
My last 2 seets of 590s both went bad with about half the tread left. They started pulling to 1 side. Firestone pro-rated them. I went to BFG 244s but they did not seem to last as long. I put 590s back on hope I can wear them out this time.
-
I was having the same types of issues with mine and it was all alignment related...My caster/camber was way out too.
Since I had that all fixed my tire life has doubled and then some. -
Mine were wearing fine and I have a good 3 axle alignment done every year. They would just start pulling I would rotate them side to side and they would pull the other way. I would try HSRs but I am afraid they wont get very good wet traction and they are getting to be a bit pricey. The HSRs are by far the best tires I've had on my spread axle.
-
I ran the HSR's a couple of years ago and I liked them very much but when I went to get another set they were out of stock so I went with the Firestones and the Firestones have already outlasted the HSR's and they still have nearly 50% left on them.
I'll probably put new steers on in Febuary or early March and switch these Firestones onto the trailer to run them out and from the looks of'em they'll probably last about a year on the trailer. -
I only get a year out of set of trailer tires when they are brand new! Which is about 60,000. Thats if I can wear them out before I poke big holes in them.
-
I have some generals on the front axle of my spread that are a year old and are at about 50% and I have a set of Roadmasters (Chinese) that I got a screamin' deal on on the rear axle that are about 6 months old and are holding up pretty well.
I would have never bought the Roadmasters except I got all 4 of them for $800 mounted and balanced...Too good to pass up.
I don't like the Chinese tires as a rule. -
I normally choose good branded tires also, but this last year I've experimented with a few, for steers I've tried the Longmark brand (chinese) I got them in July of 08 and to this date they still rolling (as trailer tires now) and drives I toyed with Hercules/ Roadforce and Road Masters all chinese but the Road Masters are made by cooper in china.
And to answer the OP's question I would recommend Toyo's M143's for the fronts, Right price and a good even wear.
