I used to run Bridgestone R287 for steers for years, but they always would start wearing funny on the edges, I was lucky to get 50k miles out of them. At the end of 2011 I installed a set of Michelin XZA3+ , balanced with lead and installed Centramatics. As of today the tires are wearing smooth and even, never going back to Bridgestone for steers, but I will recommend Bridgestone M726EL for Drives, best longest lasting Drive tire out there. IMO
BTW I run Centramatics on all my tractor's axles, best investment you can make.Last edited: Apr 28, 2013
Johny41 Thanks this. -
Michelin has so many X names that it is easy to get them confused when asking at tire stores. Michelin steers will probably be what I go with as the remaining 4 drives will be XDN2's.Johny41 Thanks this. -

I just switched from 590's to 560's about 80.00 cheaper reach and are built for regional/off road, as opposed to OTR. So far so good they follow the ruts a little more, but I can live with it if they last as long or longer as the 590's. Oops I just noticed the date on your post, here in the future,(LOL) mine were 425.00 mounted, balanced with Counteract, out the door.

Thats why I changed to 560's the tire rep says in my on/off road application they will work better, even if they don't they are a little cheaper.

Anyone try the new Bridgestone R283's?

I've got Continental HSR2's on now, 16 ply's. When I wear these out I think I'm going to go with a 315/80R22.5's go up to a L load range and get the needed 9" wide rims. I'm wanting something a little tougher off road and maybe 'float' a little better.

I tried, Dunlop, Bridgestone, Firestone, Good Year; none is going to run like Michelin XZA3. I have front axle air bags and helps , my set now has 180,000 miles, still in good shape. I see on the Michelin website posted above by LBZ, this tires can be retred 3 times ,up to 700,000 miles ? I never used retread on steer axle, are this safe?

See line E here. While it states regrooved & not recapped/retread, sure would not want to be talking my way out of it with a officer. That & would not trust something like that anyway...
