Always buy known quality steers. Stop worrying about that 500 dollar retail bill each. Start thinking good steers of known premium quality prevents YOU and your RIG from getting into preventable damages, accidents, tows etc etc etc for at least a year for a team.

We always replace all tires on a bobtail, all 10 about late Oct, before first real winter anywhere in the USA. The old ones go into the spare trailer stockpile.

I don't think any steer being discussed is of questionable quality.

If by known quality you mean only steers I have experience with that limits me to the Yokohama. It's been around much longer than other tire under discussion. I've never ran the new Michelin X Line Energy Z.

    I don't believe I want to run a
60-80% Drive Tire as a trailer tire.

If a 60% Drive Tire has inadequate traction on road might I respectfully suggest you reconsider your drive tire choices?

    A 40% XDN2 has superior snow and wet traction to a 100% XDA+ Energy.

You might be a canidate for the XDS if the XDN2 is inadequate.

Just put new Michelin XLEZ steers on. Got 371688 km out of original xza3+. That is approximately 230,000 miles. Paid 1235 installed for the pair. Cdn$.
Cost for steer tires: 0.0053 per mile cdn. Or about 0.0041 usd. I suppose that is a result of a light front axle, ranging from 11000-11600 fully loaded.

The sales tax I will get it back at end of quarter.
I am happy with this shop. Good price always have what I need and fast service. Tire terminal in Mississauga Ontario.
