With 200k+ on my LRR G572's and 20/32 left, trust me I've thought about it and continue to pat myself on the back. The tires will go an easy 500k and still have some meat on them.

My story is a bit different. Got two Bridgestone R280's about a year ago, picked up a nail a couple months later...
Well, had it patched and balanced. Had it go out of balance a couple times...
Now, the dilemma is to get two matched new steers or replace just the one with patch.
Most places don't even carry R280, it's discontinued. A good tire, they're both showing little wear despite balance issue. I prolly will opt for just replacing the one patched tire with another R280 so it can be balanced.
But my point is that it is hard for me to spring for high $$$ steers. They're great if you get that longevity, worth it. But if you have any damage to one, it's twice as painful. I'd really almost rather run cheaper steers and just replace them more often and keep them matched. -

If those R280 are a year old then they must have plenty of miles on them, say over 80k? Replace them both for you are not really going to be losing financially.
