I would never put an imported steer tire on a truck, given how many New American-driven trucks I see with blown steers, on Indiana I-70.

The big name tire brands are all global companies with numerous tire manufacturing plants worldwide.

I’ve seen the same model Bridgestone drive tires that were Made in the USA, and I’ve also seen the same model that was Made in Thailand, so being imported is irrelevant.

The only way to know where a tire is made is to look at the sidewall, regardless of brand name.

In the interest of avoiding an in-depth discussion of what is made where, I chose to keep it simple. I figured, the audience would understand exactly what I meant, without spiraling down a rabbit hole.

That's very true. I've seen michelins and Yokohamas "made in" from various countries. I definitely think it's a how it's made vs where it's made. I've been curious about double coin tires. Ran them on trailers for years and they've stood up very well. As far as I know they're all made in Thailand

From my own personal experiences as a O/Op for over 24 years and found my own research.

These are the only tire brands that I’ll run on my truck on the steer axle with Centramatic wheel balancers.

    Michelin X-Line Energy Z 16 ply
    Bridgestone R284
    Firestone FS591 16 ply
