That's the ones I saw.

I think it was just worn out but I didn’t look that close. I was occupied trying to get out of the truck stop without getting hit.
I only saw the 2 pictures but i was through there earlier on the same route - glad I didn’t get stuck behind. -
Few thoughts
10’ chains are almost useless except for cros chaining things and 8’ chains work just as well for that. I would swap your 10’ chains for 16’. The skip the 5’ chains and go with 8 8’ chains and 4 4’ chains.
If you ever want to step up to an RGN I would go with all chain end straps now and skip the flat hook straps. A chain end strap can do everything a flat hook can and more.
I wouldn’t buy the portawinches. They seem aqward and redundant when you have the 4” and 2” hand ratchets. I Carry 8 of each size but I mostly pull RGN and double drops with no winches. If you have winches down each side of the trailer I would only carry 2-4 of the larger hand ratchets.SixShooterTransport Thanks this. -
@SixShooterTransport If you're planning to haul equipment or even some specially stuff like storage tanks, get yourself at least 4 shackles from 3/4 inch to 7/8 inch.
stwik and SixShooterTransport Thank this. -
We roll pretty basic, 9-11 straps on the trailers and 8-10 chains/binders. I have used every single strap Ive had, but Ive never run out them or chains. Chains are all 16-20ft I believe.
I understand wanting to be versatile, but I dont see the need for short chains unless you're getting into real specialty stuff. We're looking at getting into more equipment and specialty loads, so I definitely want to learn.
Rontonio and Super Hauler, I hope I can pick your brains pretty soon.villageidiot and SixShooterTransport Thank this. -
Sure but the voic s in my head are confusingHillbillyDeluxeTruck and stwik Thank this.

@Gunner75 Four shackles of each size or just four in that range? Any 1/2 inch?
-
I have 7/8 inch shackles, they will work for most applications, but if you need a smaller one, then I'd suggest no less than 1/2 with a large opening, any smaller you'll play hell getting a chain link through.
Shackles aren't a have to have item, most times you can remove the clevis hook and put the chain through, shackles just help to make your tie downs a little fasterkylefitzy and SixShooterTransport Thank this. -
I'm the opposite, I don't see the need to drag out 16-20 feet of chain when 12' will do. It takes time to tie up the excess chain.
Tail chains, or short chains, are awesome. Especially equipment. Throw the hook in the hole, binder on and roll. In my case, 8', 12', 16', 20'. You get pretty good at guessing what length chain you need, depending on the load.SAR and SixShooterTransport Thank this.
