I see 40 cal's point with the 10 fts but I use 8 ft drops personally and used 6ft on flats. Im going to get a new set made from cordura from peaks tarps soon. lighter weight but more durable as I think it will hold up better on these misshapen machinery loads. Im going with a 3 piece set. I think tarping the upper deck by itself is the way to go.

Seriously though....how many loads do you haul that would require 10 ft drops? I figure that the 20x24 would cover most loads and could be turned sideways for the 8 ft drop effect. Also one would cover anything you could haul on the 11 ft upper deck.
Maybe a 16x 20 would be better for the upper deck?

Yeah I'm gonna get mine from peaks too! Those Cordura sound like great tarps.

I think he hauls abunch of machinery. Even if your only 8ft tall you might be 12ft wide.

You do realize the step deck loads are over 8'6" tall right? What are you going to do when you go pick something 9'6" tall and 8' wide? Much less something 10'2" tall. Just trying to help you buy the right stuff the first time. We have shippers that pay very well, but require the ENTIRE product to be tarped, not just the top 8 feet! More freight for me after they take it back off your trailer. That is also a great way to be black listed by an agent. If you don't want to tarp more than 8' high, buy a flat instead.

This is why I asked the question. I have pulled flats for many years of my career but never a step deck. I have never owned my own trailer or equipment before so I wanna buy right the first time around.

I appreciate everyones responses. I learned years ago, If you don't know, ask someone who does!
