Low CPM. Probably be better off find a company that has a percentage option.

For me,,,if I was driving someone elses truck, I'd want to be paid by the mile loaded or empty. Driving for a percentage would be great if rates were high but they ain't. Also on a % deal, all the miles ya drive empty are on you.

That .38 cpm is low as others have said UNLESS,,,it's for ALL miles. Then 10,000 miles x .38 = $3800.00 to the house. Not too bad for wages IMO.

If ya don't d/h much and the rates the owner is getting are real good, then the % deal would be better?....maybe.

    Look before ya leap!

I'm making .42 a mile Plus 15 dollars per stop on the wagon and anything under 225 miles is 18 extra for short haul. Oh and extra for OD pay.

.38cpm is low if you ask me. Add in the fact you have no benifit a and now it's absurd!!!

you could do much better elsewhere for sure. Even the Mega's usually pay better and have benifits.

As far as percentage, it's the way to go if you have consistent freight and the rates are good. If you do a lot of deadhead to your next load, might want to stick to mileage plus Accessorial pay (tarping, detention, load/unload pay)

I don't know how things are in Texas. We start open deck drivers at .40/mi for all miles loaded or empty. Our drivers pull step decks, RGNs and some flats. They get reviews at 6 months and one year and then annually after that. After two years someone that was doing an average job for us would probably be making .44/mi. In addition, our drivers are paid additional for oversize loads (.03-.10 per mile), stops and short hauls. For the year, they averaged between .46-.55 per mile, and wages ranged from $50-65K for drivers that worked the full year. They have a fair amount of freedom in determining how hard they work, as all drivers are home every weekend and choose how long they want to be home. We do provide all the normal benefits, vacation, 401-K, profit sharing, paid holidays, health & life insurance, etc. My opinion is that we are in the top 25% of pay rates.

Short story long is I feel you are underpaid.
