Hi, I have a 2000 peterbilt 37 ,it came with an aftermarket stereo and never turned off , I upgraded it anyways and assumed it was yellow and red wire together, but upon installing the new one, i wired red with red , and yellow with yellow i noticed that the stereo stays on with the key off. The red wire seems to have constant power while it should be ignition only
It looks like no splices in the original harness now im stuck.
Anyone know where to look?

Since the stereo works with the key off and the CB doesn't but you want it on all the time, maybe you could switch the wiring at the fuse/relay box.
skallagrime, BurjKhalifa, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this. -
The radio itself does not have a ‘power button’ or on/off, somewhere?
BurjKhalifa Thanks this. -
Did you check these two with a volt meter before putting it in the slot?
BurjKhalifa Thanks this. -

My idea was to run a fuse tap to the circuit breaker instead. what do you think? -
ok guys, so i removed random fuses and found that when i remove the "AUX FAN" fuse the stereo does turn off, so how do i proceed from there?
-
Why is this undesireable?
Lotta time if im sitting with truck off i still want my radio on.
Got so i normally splice yellow and red
If you get real fancy and like me also really dont like the radio turning off every time you start the truck (disconnects radio, ande therefore bluetooth on crank), run new direct wire to headunit from house batteries, (fuse your positive at the battery in a weatherprotected inline fuse)
If worried about parasitic draw, either remove headunit face on parking for a while, or add a dash mounted switch to kill power -
Alrighthy guys, i just fuse tapped into the wiper blades, and i now have apple car play
. thanks everyone
