You probaby won't need a flashlight, I never used one. U will need gloves and maybe even a grease rag to wipe your hands during pti's. I wouldn't worry about an atlas. They provide them during class and give you one when you graduate.

6 am flight to Dallas (9/25/11) and still wondering if I made the right decision. I still have four hours before we leave for the airport.

Heck with it, I'm staying home with my wife and my dogs. I was packed and ready to go but could not bring myself to leave my family. I appreciate Stevens willingness to train me and give me a job but there's no amount of $$$ that can replace what I already have. All the best to NYCMEX and SpyderRyder. :biggrin_25525:

That is a very adult decision, GSWx, and probably the right one. I have learned one thing reading these posts since July: One must be in the proper state of mind to get into this business, get through training, and succeed on the road. Having to leave your family - including the dogs! - would have been a very high hurdle to cross, one that would have probably have turned out to be fatal to your driving career.

I wish you well in whatever you do.

Bring the flashlight (if you're going into O-1). It's beginning to get darker and that flashlight comes in handy when doing your pti or when checking tire pressures in the morning before rolling.
BTW, I use one of those elastic strip 'headlights' you can get at Home Depot or Lowes. Leaves my hands free and shines the light wherever I'm looking. Really handy when kneeling in the dark looking for that elusive valve stem or checking my fifth wheel.

    Nycmex77 and cheflee Thank this.
