are there things that a new driver can do to help increase driving stamina or is this something that has to be learned over time?

Nothimg more that just doing it. It is not as easy as it sounds to drive 10 hrs a day, day after day. You build up endurance mainly by your body becoming more familiar with the new routine. You will probaply stop more often when you first start, you will need to, nothing wrong with it, fatigue sets in a little sooner when you are new, again that's normal, bit as with most things in life, you adapt and it gets easier.
It doesn't take long, but if you have been driving 400 miles a day consistently, you probably are not going to be dispatched on that two day 1100 mile load, that is the proving yourself part of my comment.
Trust me, if you want this to work, if you want to succeed, you wi quickly adapt and quickly prove yourself in cause you will he doing the right things for the right reasons.Ga Dawg141, Emulsified, mrallenca and 1 other person Thank this. -
gotchu....thanks for the advice. You not lying about the 10 hour driving thing lol. i got a driving job now where i go for about 6-8 hours a day, delivering freightliner parts to different cities in north carolina....Non CDL driving job...some days i do the route fine, go play basketball at the gym afterwards, other days, im tired and take a nap when i get home from work lol, guess it depends on how i slept the night before lol. I need to get my body trained on being able to drive for 10 hours though, like you said....im suppose to start truck school at a community college here in march....But thanks again for this info.KMac Thanks this.
